Load cell is a type of transducer used to measure the tension of objects or weight acting on the load cell and then convert that tension into resistance (Ohm). Mostly, a Wheat Stone Bridge circuit (Strain Gauge) is used to convert from resistance into Vdc voltage at the level of micro Volt - milli Volt. Mostly it will be 2mV/V or 3mV/V (DC). The mV voltage obtained will have a level according to the exciter voltage fed to the load cell and the Spec of that load cell.

In actual use, the exciter voltage is usually 5 VDC or 12 VDC, as these are readily available in the market. However, when using a weighing indicator to receive weight values, the exciter is often built-in and may be set to 5 VDC or 10 VDC for convenience.
Since Loadcell is like a sensor that measures a type of weight, the output value must have a screen or display to connect and show the measured value as a number. The connection may involve an indicator (EP3101-K), scoreboard, PLC weighting module (XD-E2WT-A), etc. Load cells are categorized based on different types of use, and here we are specifically discussing strain gauge load cells.

It will be divided into 2 types:
Pressure type
Tension type

Shear Beam or Single point type is used for general weight such as food, people, animals.

S type / S-Beam type    Used for hanging or suspended work such as cranes, pulleys.
